1971 Super BOEING 727 IH2RE |
Serial Number: 20533 Registration Number: VP-BIF

|
This aircraft was the last Boeing 727-100 manufactured, rolling off the production line in late 1971. The aircraft features the same wing, landing gear, fuel tanks and pressurization system as the 727-200, as well as the Autopak trip. It is the lowest timed 727-100 in the world today and has never seen commercial operation. To meet Stage 3 and stage 4 noise and emission requirements, the number 1 and 3 engines have been replaced with JT8D-217 engines, each providing 22,000 lb. thrust (the center -9A engine has 14,500 lb. thrust). Winglets and a flap droop system were added to give the aircraft superior cruise performance and substantially increased stability at high altitudes.
The extended fuel capacity of 70,000 lb. gives VP-BIF a potential 4187 nm range or 8.5 hours of cruise at .82 (most efficient speed) with NBAA/IFR reserves.
The cockpit instrumentation has been upgraded to a digital Collins 86-C series E.F.I.S. system with Honeywell Enhanced Ground proximity, modern air data computers and TCAS-II mod. 7. The flight management system are Universal UNS-1L's and a Honeywell Laser INS as a third backup. VP-BIF is fully RVSM approved.
The aircraft also features an integral forward airstair door. |
