CENTURY II PERFORMING ARTS AND CONVENTION CENTER WICHITA, KANSAS - AIR CAPITAL OF THE WORLD

Wichita's long history with aviation traces back to the beginnings of Beechcraft, Cessna, and Stearman Aircraft companies in the early 1920s and '30s. With an economic infrastructure tailored for Aircraft manufacturing, other major companies followed-suit such as Bombardier Learjet, Airbus, and Spirit Aerosystems, In 2012, Witchita companies delivered 48% of all USA-built aircraft, contributing over 33% to the global aircraft supply. With over 670 manufacturing firms, Witchita has become a hub for U.S. aviation companies and earned its designation as the "Air Capital of the World."

Witchita, KS has one of the highest concentrations of Engineers in the United States and is home to the National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) at Wichita State University, the largest Aerospace Research and Development Academic Institution in the United States.
